Alternatives

When assets become unavailable, whether they're retired, malfunctioning or in transit, it's useful to know of alternatives that can take its place or otherwise act in the same capacity.

The Alternatives section, under the asset, is for this purpose: for recording what assets can be used as an alternative to that asset.

In the future we will integrate this information into the dependencies area, and also for reserving or booking assets so it can more intelligently suggest alternative assets if this asset is unavailable.

For now, though, it's useful information to store about an asset purely for informational purposes.
